The Steph

This is sound advice, and I thank you for posting it.

joleen

thank you :)

daria

beautiful + inspiring post about a beautiful quilt.

Jo

Ah! This harks back to the days of "The Heathen Quilter" and reminds me of why I like your style! Hand crafted goods can be beautifully made without being measured within an inch of their lives and immaculate preciseness takes the hand crafted element out of it for me. If I want to purchase something perfectly made, I will go to Myer. If I want something that is beautifully, well made with personality, character and soul, I will visit my crafty friends blogs.

Thank you so much! I have been scared to try quilting, but I think I may be getting braver...

amisha

thank you so much for this post... truly inspirational. it's difficult as a new quilter to trust my own intuition; each project is a baby step towards courage. reading about your design process was eye-opening!

Sandy

Thank you so much for sharing!

joyce

thanks for elaborating...it inspires me to make a quilt in the nontraditional way...i've only made one so far (while pregnant) -- now i just have to find the time to make another.

Great to hear more about how you make things. Fantastic post. I love how carefully you write :)

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on process and its' reassuring to know you work intuitively.
Both my professional design work and my crafting hobbies are pretty much intuitive processes too (although I often fret I'm not overtly 'theoretical' enough) and I found this year having to teach Design to undergraduates was an exhausting stretch of the mind; really going back to thinking about theory/ analysis and all that stuff, then to try to get them to balance the technical with the intuitive...that's an interesting process in itself!

Thanks for such an informative and inspiring post!

(I found my copy of Simple Quilts at Yesasia - might be worth a try)

I'm so happy I stumbled upon your blog! Great + informative post.

I have the print Gocco and make tons of cards and print on ribbon a lot. Love that machine :)

What an inspirational post about process. I like to work "free" as you do...and yet isn't it funny how even in freedom, there is a unique process that we all instinctively follow?

Beautiful quilt!

justine

thanks :) I love your quilts

sally
