I have a belated, but almost finished gift here - hopefully I can get it all completed and in the mail very soon.
you know, the 13th has always been a lucky day for me, and now it seems to be for you as well. hope all four of you are happy, healthy, snuggly, and getting sufficient rest!

I can't believe I didn't notice Pia's middle name when I read and commented to this post before. Her name is lovely. I'm especially partial to her middle name, Lola. It's my eldest daughter's first name.

Welcome to the wonderful world, Pia. Although the following are not my original words, they are my wish for you:

1. Remember to be true to your friends, your family and, most of all, to yourself.

2. Live large - take big gulps from the cups that life offers you - try everything at least once - if you fail, so what? Get up, dust yourself off and start again.

3. Be a good eater - don't diet - love yourself the way that you are. Exercise - get big and strong - beat the boys at their own games.

4. Work hard in school - grades don't matter, just your effort - learn for learning sake ... read your little butt off!

5. Be creative - take chances - speak your mind - wear hats - make a statement to the world. Be a WILD WOMAN!!

6. Teach as much as you can, for in teaching you learn as well. Be gentle and kind - love animals - be patient - always be the first to offer a shoulder to cry on and a loud HOORAY when something good happens to someone else - for that energy will come back to you ten fold!

7. And last but not least, in the words of that wildest of all women, Coco Channel, " How many cares one loses when one decides not to be something but to be someone".

Well done, Alison. May your home always be full of love and laughter.
