For the first day of the year [] a pile of sewing, some finished yesterday afternoon in the cool recluse of the sewing room, some waiting now to be sewn, cut and pinned in place, ready. A little dress for Pia, in the freshest shades of brown, duck egg blue, a little murky green - linen and cotton and ribbon and elastic.
For the first day of the year [] clearing and cleaning rooms - cathartic ritualised shedding and altering, arranging, and re-inventing.
For the first day of the year [] no resolutions. Only desires to make a conscious effort to re-establish things I lost along the way. No lists. No promises. Just eager desire. Paving a way for the year to open up choices, and for those choices to be taken.
For the first day of the year [] small quiet - one child asleep, the other playing happily with home made playdough. The backgarden awash with water from the paddling pool. Toys scattered. Cups laid haphazardly across benches. Plates needing to be washed. A plan to make fresh pasta and fresh pesto for dinner.
For the first day of the year [] A desire to see everyone safe, happy, healthy. A desire to share beauty in all it's forms, to connect with people we love, to laugh, and to gather warmth from the friendships we have in our lives.
