DONE DOING

Whiteshibui01blog

A large box is now making it's way across the earth to Enfant Terrible and it is such a relief to have it all done, packaged and out. And there is nothing like a bit of deadline pressure to get your head thinking about all the other things you want to make, have to make, right now. Why is it that as one thing comes to an end I think of 10 other things to fill the space it leaves...Sometimes it is very busy inside my head. I can now focus a little more on some projects closer to home - there's a pile of stuff cut out waiting to be sewn, I put together a little skirt for Pia (I'd like her to model it, so maybe photos tomorrow), and I want to get the Sumidity pattern out this weekend (at last! It's been in the editing phase for too long, and, over the last few months, with test knitters who have been very generous with their time and feedback). I also want to start mocking up some of the pattern pieces from Pattern Magic 2 which Di sent me last year as a thankyou gift.

As boxes left, more boxes arrived, and I now have some Shibui Sock yarn to play with. Not necessarily for socks, I'm hoping it can be for something else, but the colours really sucked me in. I love the seaweed colour above, especially against white and black - smooth, bright, clean. In fact all the colours I got were deeply luscious and beautiful - a nice combination for a more relaxed end of the week. I'm hoping my head can be a little less distracted if I look at this photo for a long time. Or even a short time. I said I would stop and sit this afternoon - pick up the needles and continue on with the Short Pullover, pack away the fruit and vegetables which have just arrived, pick Max up from school (I get ridiculous amounts of calm pleasure in picking him up and dropping him off) and then enjoy a wonderful meal out with someone I've been very keen to catch up with for a long time.
Time I think, to sit.

BACKGROUNDS

Short03blog

In the background many things happen:
2 children asleep without duress, quietly slipping under on the couch and while being dressed for bed, a doll tucked under her arm, and stripey pyjamas for him.

Such wonderful warm comments for Pia's tunic top! Thankyou! It always means so much more when other people find the depth to something as well. When I get a little skirt done this week....I'll have the outfit to show. It is lying cut out, ready to be sewn. And then Pia may slay mystical dragons as her hair floats above pre-raphaelite renditions of romantic escapism covered in moss and fine jasmine petals.

So much cutting, and sewing, and trimming, and threading going on in the background. Weeks of dying fabric, drafting patterns, cutting, and some mammoth sessions sewing and I'm making head roads into my first order for a store. I'm so pleased with what I've been doing for Enfant Terrible, and very excited about being represented alongside some of the people who inspire me and who I have enormous respect for both in clothing and accessories. I still have some huge weeks ahead getting it done and shipped out, but it will be there soon. I'm not even sure my head has caught up with the idea of doing this, let alone my scissors and sewing machine! I'm even going to try and get a little shop update towards the end of the month - more details closer to the time when I know how much I'll have done.

A little time to myself. Stepping away from the sewing room and the ironing board, and over the last few weeks I've finally got going on the Setsuko Torii Short Pullover. In going back through posts to reference it, I realise I started out with this in October and November last year. Some fairly serious discussions about the impending winter weather situation recently (ie long, cold, and wet. fantastic) meant serious inroads to some winter pieces, and given the cooler air and light this weekend, it might be needed. It's a quick knit, and I do love the Lamb Linen so much.

I got the final edition of 'D is for detail' in the post this week, and I am just so pleased with the way this book has come out. I still can't resist a quick peek through it every time I pass it on the bookshelf at home. There's a link now in the sidebar for it as well.

The background is a very busy place - and still no clean sewing room or creme brulee.
