BACKGROUNDS

Short03blog

In the background many things happen:
2 children asleep without duress, quietly slipping under on the couch and while being dressed for bed, a doll tucked under her arm, and stripey pyjamas for him.

Such wonderful warm comments for Pia's tunic top! Thankyou! It always means so much more when other people find the depth to something as well. When I get a little skirt done this week....I'll have the outfit to show. It is lying cut out, ready to be sewn. And then Pia may slay mystical dragons as her hair floats above pre-raphaelite renditions of romantic escapism covered in moss and fine jasmine petals.

So much cutting, and sewing, and trimming, and threading going on in the background. Weeks of dying fabric, drafting patterns, cutting, and some mammoth sessions sewing and I'm making head roads into my first order for a store. I'm so pleased with what I've been doing for Enfant Terrible, and very excited about being represented alongside some of the people who inspire me and who I have enormous respect for both in clothing and accessories. I still have some huge weeks ahead getting it done and shipped out, but it will be there soon. I'm not even sure my head has caught up with the idea of doing this, let alone my scissors and sewing machine! I'm even going to try and get a little shop update towards the end of the month - more details closer to the time when I know how much I'll have done.

A little time to myself. Stepping away from the sewing room and the ironing board, and over the last few weeks I've finally got going on the Setsuko Torii Short Pullover. In going back through posts to reference it, I realise I started out with this in October and November last year. Some fairly serious discussions about the impending winter weather situation recently (ie long, cold, and wet. fantastic) meant serious inroads to some winter pieces, and given the cooler air and light this weekend, it might be needed. It's a quick knit, and I do love the Lamb Linen so much.

I got the final edition of 'D is for detail' in the post this week, and I am just so pleased with the way this book has come out. I still can't resist a quick peek through it every time I pass it on the bookshelf at home. There's a link now in the sidebar for it as well.

The background is a very busy place - and still no clean sewing room or creme brulee.

what beautiful images you have written

Wow! In the 'background'
you have been so very industrious and creative. Everything you do is so has your own unique stamp and all such beautiful quality. You really are a designer, aren't you? I love and admire what you create.

So much thought and detail in the process, before it all evolves. You probably just love the before, as much as the after. The Enfant Terrible website is gorgeous and it just sings 6.5sts doesn't it. Your little creations will be right at home in their rightful place there. Congratulations!
Your imagination must be going constantly. But, I'd say you are having the best time, tired yes, but so satisfied.

Oh, by the way the Setsuko Torii Short Pullover is that for you, or the little ones?

wow -so much going on! And all so exciting. I'm so happy you will have things at Enfant Terrible and I can't wait to see what they are. Patricia is right -they will fit right in. I need to make time for myself to knit as well -it's been way too long. Habu is calling me:)
