THE JOY IS HERE

The gingerbread dough is resting:: the beef and guiness pie is cooking for lunch [yes, I watched Jamie on Thursday]:: the flowers are bought [christmas bush and lavender]:: the presents are wrapped:: the children are VERY excited - or at least one of them is:: there is a wonderful smelly gooey taleggio cheese on the bench waiting for me with guava paste:: Pia's doll's bed has had it's second coat of white paint, and is drying waiting for the third and final coat:: the first Jeweled Steps sock is finished:: I have new yarn [more STR Raven in the Thraven colourway] waiting for swatching for a little something for Pia:: the sashiko embroidery still needs to be done on the doll's quilt for Pia:: the turkey will come out for defrosting this afternoon:: the last of the presents have been bought:: the streets are getting quieter and quieter:: we see friends this afternoon for a big BBQ::
and I think we're ready.
Wishing everyone a wonderful christmas, with plenty of sparkle, merriment and joy!

While you're putting the last coat of paint on Pia's bed, I'm finishing up a pillow and case for Astrid's. I did get a small quilt made (I wish it were a little bigger but I didn't realize I wished that until after I'd sewn the back on and I'm sure as hell not going to start another now). They'll be no sheet for the mattress but I'm calling it all good. A mother can only make so much and as Dan just said to me, I couldn't sewn two pieces of fabric together, called it a blanket, and Ms. A would've been thrilled.
Happy Christmas to you, Alison. I'll think of you and Pia as I watch Astrid open her doll bed.

I am thrilled that you will be able to use more time for your creativity - happy for you and for those of us who adore all that you make and show - as I assume there will be MORE of it. Your photography is fantastic by the way.
