LINES RUNNING THROUGH

I've had this little niggling idea germinating inside my head for weeks now, waiting patiently for a spare moment to come to fruition, perhaps even needing some time alone to fester away and become something even greater, with an even bigger story to tell if the chance ever came for it to be released.
I love my Print Gocco. I'm constantly thinking of things I can do with it, and what I might next use it for. It's true I sometimes make up reasons, just so I can use it again. I love printing my little linen tags with it. And I love doing slightly more full on card and gift tag runs with it. The screenprinting side, well that just adds a whole other dimension of Gocco love to the equation.
A few years ago I did a series of postcards for a postcard swap. They were really quick pen and ink drawings, with a little help from Max who added his own lines to it (I love collaborations!) and at the time I kind of thought they were ok, but once I knew they had been sent, I felt quite forlorn that I had no formal way of recapturing some of them. I've often referred back to those drawings during the course of time, as little pieces of inspiration, and as a reminder to go back and capture those ideas again. They've been on my mind a lot recently, as it slowly dawned on me that I have actually been capturing them, albeit through different mediums. Maybe now is the right time to unleash the full fury of the idea into my work.
Ping! Went the idea in my head through the week as I walked through the parks and the streets sipping my coffee and letting my mind wander. Kerklunk! Was the noise inside my head as little domino effects raced through the corners of my mind. Go! Now! Said the energy monster. And so. Many drawings. Pens going slowly blunt and running out of ink. I have 3 screenprints mastered up and ready to roll. I still find the whole process of printing and screening one of adventure - it's not always a direct translation of what you see before you on paper, and I draw with a really, really fine tip most of the time which often doesn't translate through to the screen. I'm venturing into a 3 screen print, a first for me. Oh I so hope it works the way it looks in my head! I'm slightly nervous about printing this up....
[the confidence boost, though, of selling out at Etsy, has spurred me on - Thankyou All Ever So Much!!]
