FREEDOM : SEWING : UPDATING

Vwblackblog

I have relative freedom this weekend - in which I get to be by myself, with only my thoughts, needs, desires to attend to, a large pile of sewing, and a few restful periods with the knitting needles. How wonderful it is to not feel pressured about when I might have 5 minutes peace. How delightful to take ones self off to a cafe and order a nice meal and sit and have dinner alone. I did feel quite self conscious I was the only one not reading Harry Potter. I almost bought it. But decided a night in with my favourite slob night movie Notting Hill, chocolate and Habu were a more fitting response to a weekend without children or husband.

I have sewn like a chinese sweat shop, and actually made indents into my piles and To Do list. Which means - that on Tuesday night I can update my shop with the Black On Black Scarves, Fold Tops, and Gathered Skirts. I had tried to get them all done for this weekend, but I'm failing on that one. I've been playing around with some variations on the scarves as well:

A Lavender and Charcoal print on pewter silk. But they will have to wait for another update.

No kids or husband- wow!? My husband is away so the closest thing to 'me' time that I will be getting for the next 3 days is writing this comment! Enjoy your weekend!

How lovely for you to have a weekend to your self! Its such a blessing to have dinner to oneself isn't it? (I would have never thought that pre-children.)and your scarves are so beautiful...

:)

good working!

it's so nice to have time to yourself once in awhile!

Sounds like a perfect weekend- relaxing, restorative and productive.

I had an unexpected night to myself last night. I was so excited, I walked around in circles for about 4 hours, achieving practically nothing.

great to hear that you found some time for yourself and for sewing and watching girl-movies, looking forward for your update.

notting hill is that movie for me too...love it! so good to have time just for you...
the scarves are gorgeous...looking forward to the shop update!

I really love the rare occassions where I get to spend quality me time. Sounds like you had a wonderful time.

Looking forward to seeing the shop update.

Sweatshops are not only "chinese" - they are mostly of ethnic workers.

The scarves look gorgeous, and sounds like you were enjoying some time to yourself!

ooohhhh gathered skirts sound devine -can't wait to see! I love your creations. Thanks for sharing and being inspirational.

I am SO glad you got some much deserved time for yourself. It was long overdue, I think.

Can we forward this pic of the gorgeous silk to all of our beloveds and teach them that this is what we want instead of chocolates and flowers. I think I could tolerate the rest of our humid-filled summer days if I knew I would be enjoying that beautiful piece this winter. Allison, I hope not one guilty thought crept into your head during your wonderful break. It was well deserved!

Oooh, love that silk.

hope that your weekend alone was restful and delightful. the new scarf version looks beautiful!
