VESSEL WEDNESDAY

Vessel Wednesday. A beautiful concept from Carson.
The vessel:: A silver crackle bowl by Emma Johnstone which is raku fired, with the rim often ground back to reveal fine black cracks and then the middle is inlaid with silver leaf. It's one of the few bowls of mine which sit way up high, way, way out of the finger grasp of any little people.

Oh how beautiful.
Lovely vessel.
Lovely pic.
I'm quite chuffed that vessel wednesday has resonated with others!
And raku firing...I've never heard of that process before.
I love how the blogosphere opens up my craft horizons no end

I love the primitive nature of this. It looks heavy and reminds me of an earthwork.

This is absolutely stunning. I have always loved raku since pottery class in college, but this is a whole new dimension! I wish I could see it and turn it in the light... Enjoy your slip of beauty, and thank you for sharing it with us.

oobee doobee.. oobee doobee..
oobee doobee oobeeoobee..
the sound of Shula singing happily to herself.
Thanks for the link.

Yes, little fingers would find this beautiful shape something else. Space ship, frisbee, or more likely a place for trains to go round and round!
The silver in the centre looks amazing.

I love the serenity in this image.
(And now I'm giggling because I'm thinking of that quote from 'The Castle'. "How's the serenity, love?")
