That's weird. My parents went a very long time being told they couldn't have children. then they had my brother, and then when my mum was pregnant again 3 years later, they told her it would be a boy. All my cousins on my dad's side are boys, they already had a boy. But my brother, when questioned, said he wanted a sister. they tried to let him down gently saying that if he had a brother he could play football. Nope, he wanted a sister. After I was born, they were all quite shocked (but pleased) that I was a girl, and all my brother said when they told him was, "I know, that's what I wanted."
Must be a 3 year old boy thing.

Woohoo! Congratulations. I would say the same thing for a boy, of course, but it's so fun that Max was right - and that you get to make all kinds of gorgeous girl things now, in addition to the gorgeous boy stuff you've already made for her big brother.

Yay. a girl! how exciting. i's so nice to have one of each. I went into mad sewing mode when i had my daughter (i still am lol). It's so much fun to be able to make pink pretty thigns for a change. :)

moki

ohhh those little intuitions of the kiddos. (I have one that is leaving me a little worried and anxious to buy another preg. test)

Congrats! Shopping for girls is less difficult and FUN! A lot more options.

Fiona

Congratulations Alison!! Oh, the fun you will have with the girl-crafting. :)

And I say yay for girls! And for boys too. I didn't like to ask... Yay for babies!

Stephanie

Jo

Happy Pink Crafting to you !!!
And well done to Max !!!

samantha

i loved reading this - it brought back memories of having Miss L. I was convinced it was a girl, everyone else said boy, because of cravings, carrying, sickness stuff etc. etc. Only the ring test said girl and me and the ring were right!! First time for everything!!! Have fun with fabric and yarn stores - do it while you can because horror - they develop their own opinions! :)

Kids are amazing little things.

Congratulations!

p

aw congratulations (and you get to tell your mum she's not ALWAYS right :))

sarah

i would say that max is proving himself extremely and absolutely worthy of a charlie jumper!!! (thanks too for your lovely words x)

Anamaria

Great good news! My boy and girl are almost four years apart, too: it's been a wonderful combination for us. [a longtime lurker]

Amanda

That is so thrilling!

I have one of each, and I love them both of course. Little girls are wonderful, though, and you will enjoy the journey so much. I love the pink everywhere, and the dolls, and doing things I loved as a little girl.

Hurrah! I love the construction of this post. Thank goodness for blogs and the way they find some great writers an audience without the unnavigable waters of the publishing world interfering. That said, you should get a book out there.

Scout

Congratulations!

My son told everyone when I was like 8 weeks along that he was having a sister! I have people congratulating me all over the place. IT was weird. At the ultrasound he came and when the woman said, "girl" he said, "I TOLD you!"

joyce

yay! you're having a girl just like me.
at first i did think i was having a boy and everyone said i looked like i was having a boy (as did the chinese calendar - though the conception calendar said girl)-- so it was quite a suprise for me when the ultrasound tech said i was having a girl!
congratulations and best wishes --

Bertha

Aw, a little girl!! That's so great! It will be so fun having one of each!
